Something Borrowed Launch

Socialite Mia Theodoropoulos is the local entrepreneur behind Something Borrowed, one of the first designer rental boutiques in Western Australia.

Having always been involved in the WA fashion industry, working as a freelance stylist, a booker with Vivien’s Model Management – the team at Vivien’s were behind Saturday night’s event, with all models coming from the agency – and as a brand manager for Jett Agency, Mia has always had a keen eye for style.

The launch of Something Borrowed and her new, Grecian inspired label NIOR ET BLANC taking roots from her own heritage was held on Saturday evening at the most exquisite church in Swanborne – entitled, The Resurrection Church – a very dramatic backdrop to showcase the new collections available for hire.

Theodoropoulos started Something Borrowed from her own home in April 2012, renting out designer dresses to her girlfriends and her then ‘small’ Facebook fan base. The ‘Something Borrowed’ boutique was officially launched in July 2013 when the business took off and rentals started to exceed over 100 dresses a week – wow!

With over 16,000 instagram followers and 13,000 on Facebook, it was time to acquire her own space for clients to come in and try pieces on. Mia’s dream was to have a boutique space where appointments could be booked and one-on-one styling could be offered.

That dream has become a reality with her very own Something Borrowed boutique now located at Shop 3, 213 Walcott Street, Mt Lawley housing some of Australia’s top designers including Sass + Bide, Manning Cartell, Rachel Gilbert, Carla Zampatti, along with her own new label, available exclusively from SB.

Etherial beauty mixed with a bit of sass in the ‘Sancristy’ room thanks to Lizzie Crane. Behaving with ‘sacrid’ intentions was not really on my agenda, oops!

Nika Biggs is one of my favourite young models, I first noticed her when casting her for the Jaime Lee show – what a stunner!

The ultimate TRIPLE THREAT, Jerrie Demasi who can 1. sing like a god damn diva (eek we can’t say ‘god’ we’re in a Church!), 2. present live on TV for Channel 9 which is her current day job and 3. is so unbelievably stunning that I can hardly contain my excitement around her, and… I’m straight. Go figure! Performed Rhianna’s ‘Diamonds’ down the runway. She came out towards the end of the show and it was so incredible I almost dropped my camera because I had never heard her before. It was literally mind blowing. My oh my, this girl is destined for the stars!

I’m not sure if it was recorded, however if you are desperate to hear a few snap shots, you can hashtag #SBLAUNCHPARTY and check out a few insta videos posted by various guests. I would by lying if I didn’t say I’d already done it 10 times, lol
