Tom Bull opened and closed @ Perry Ellis

Perth models took to the international catwalks in droves this season, taking over the world’s fashion capitals and appearing in some of the biggest shows in fashion. Tom Bull opened and closed the Perry Ellis SS12 menswear show and in classic Tom style (that boy understands the value of PR), managed to score himself a regular blog on New York Times Magazine’s website during NYFW. It was shot by his blogger friend, New Zealand born, NY based Isaac Hindin Miller of Isaac Likes and is pretty cool to see Tom in his element, sellin’ it for this once in a lifetime opportunity on his rise to become one of Australia’s top male model exports.

Caitlin Lomax @ 3.1 Phillip Lim

Perth girls Rose Smith, Dempsey Stuart and Caitlin Lomax completely dominated the runways, appearing in major shows including Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dries Van Noten, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and Miu Miu to name just a few. Skye Stracke took this season off while Lauren Brown, who last season walked for many designers such as Etro and Burberry, only appeared in Reed Krakoff, however Simone Kerr made up for it appearing in Christian Sirano and The Blonds in New York for what I believe was her international catwalk debut. Sarah Pauley opened and closed the Jasper Garrida show at London Fashion week and I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more from her next season now that she has finished school and is based in London indefinitely.

Dempsey Stewart @ Marc Jacobs

I know most of these kids and have taken their photos for Style Voyeur many times over the years and become quite close with some of them so it is rather surreal to see them all doing so well. I shot with Rose Smith just before she hit the big time and must say I was a bit surprised to see her become so successful, not for lack of beauty, only because she is less than 5 ft 9 and very quiet (unlike Tom for example), however having appeared this season in 41 shows, she had the second highest Australian show tally.

I guess there really is something in the water.
