The
event was run by PR Company Muse Bureau with General Manager of PTC Nic
Clark welcoming the crowd and commencing speeches by Melissa Cantwell
Artistic Director and Co-Ambassador Lord Mayor, Lisa Scaffidi, who as always gave a
delightful speech encouraging cultural support and acknowledgment for
our City.
The beautiful Melissa Cantwell announced Gemma Ward’s
debut stage performance in upcoming show The Ugly One to be held in the 234 seat Studio Underground and her role as Co-Ambassador of the Theatre. Mario Testino even got thanks for the use
of his image of Ward which is seen in the program and was displayed on
screen after a lovely video message from Ward herself all the way from
her bedroom in New York City.
The State Theatre also includes the much anticipated Heath Ledger
Theatre which will house his Oscar for role as the Joker in Batman The
Dark Knight. The costume worn by Ledger in the movie and the award were
both donated by his family and unveiled at the 575 seat theatre opening
last week.

Sophie is one of the coolest girls in the world and it was so nice to finally meet her after all of our facebooking and Style Voyeur interviews over the years. What a rad chick!
