Coming Soon to Popsicle: On William….
Jess Twin is a 25 year old designer and award winning Contemporary artist from Perth. Her designs for label Ignite Gear have been stocked through Red Stripe Clothing for the past two years and will now also be available through Popsicle: On William.
Jess Twin credits her clothing designs to a range of influences, including abstract art, glamour, surrealism and the song ‘Bikini Girls with Machine Guns’ by American Punk Band, The Cramps.
A recent initiative saw the designer cover the shell of two snails with diamontes, which has since inspired her ‘glamourpuss’ dress. Jess Twin said she was fascinated with the idea of transforming a ‘dirty pest’ into something beautiful, valuable and special, simply by it’s adornment.
The designer describes herself as a ‘contemporary street artist’ and her debut into photography saw her win two prizes last month at the Urban Princess photography competition, at the newly opened Gingers Garage gallery on William Street.
