My best friend Annie Newton and her colleagues at the Town of Vincent put together an event last Thursday night focused on enriching community spirit through fashion in the town of Leederville. Shop front windows came alive with models posing as mannequins all the way up and down Oxford Street while an empty alleyway next to Kailis Brothers was converted into a runway with an eclectic mix of local emerging designers on show for all to see. Apparently over 1,000 locals turned out for the event and the atmosphere was magnificent. It should definitely be the first of many, the streets were vibrant and people seemed to absolutely loved it.
Of course Style Voyeur was there to capture all of the action from backstage with models from Scene dressed in a diverse mix of wares by student and graduate designers, all hand picked by show producer and former XPress Magazine editor, Emma Bergmeier-Varian to appear on the runway.
Congratulations to those involved, including.. Emily Muco, On A Whim, Katherine Young, Dear Maurice, ARA, Jewel Designs, Ariana Davis, Nicole Marrington, Seawolf Designs and Scott & Sims.
