INSIDE STYLE VOYEUR Premiere Screening

sv-&-mk

It was a long time coming that Director/ Producer Mathew Knight (above) and I released our mini fashion documentary, INSIDE STYLE VOYEUR to the Perth fashion industry. Our premiere screening held on Tuesday evening was both much anticipated for myself as well as something I was very nervous about doing, so it is with great relief that I can now say the night was a HUGE success!

After working tirelessly around the clock to complete this passion project of ours, Mathew and I finally revealed the short film about life behind the scenes of WA fashion and what it’s like to be a fashion blogger living in Perth – a city I am clearly passionate about sharing with the rest of the world. A massive thank you to Kristen Berry for her original editing and incredible contribution to this project. Her skills that lent themselves so beautifully to the creation of this project, we could not have done it without her!

The feedback we received on the night and since has been incredible and I am very excited to share it with you all when it goes online sometime in the near future – you will be the first to know so WATCH THIS SPACE to see INSIDE STYLE VOYEUR when it is live!!

The event itself was made possible thanks to Tony Salom of OMG Events who brought together an incredible list of sponsors. A massive thank you to Heyder & Shears who did our exquisite catering, to Rebecca Grace of Natural Art Flowers for her floral artistry – I am a HUGE fan of her work so to have her design flowers for my event is a tick off my bucket list, that’s for sure. To Pedersens Hire for the clear chairs, amongst other things. I actually saw Tony use these chairs regularly on the OMG Events facebook page and it is what sparked me really wanting a screening for this doco. I perused his gorgeous event photos for months imagining a chic event worthy of SV readers and the WA fashion elite. I have never had an event in 5 years of Style Voyeur so it is something I have thought aesthetically about for a long time and Tony saying yes in helping me make it possible was honestly a dream come true.

The dream was to have two separate rooms – thanking Billie & Rose for their AWESOME space at this point is well due – the first room would be closed off for pre-drinks when guests arrive. Incredible cocktails and wine served – thank you Cocktail Gastronomy & Express Winemakers – everyone drinks, eats and is merry, not knowing there is another room to screen the doco. After drinks have well and truly been served, the big reveal happens, a whole new room with my logo across a massive white wall, a new floral display and 100 crisp, clear chairs to be seated in and watch the doco. The wow factor of revealing that second room was something I really wanted. What’s so funny is, it was even better than I imagined. We had a plasma screen set up in the pre-drinks room showcasing OMG’s fabulous event design imagery and everyone thought that is where we were going to screen the doco when they arrived and that they would have to stand around desperately trying to see – you wouldn’t have seen a thing. It wasn’t a tiny TV but nothing in comparison to what was waiting in the other room. All of my visions went to plan. It just goes to show that if you vibe something hard enough and are also willing to work hard to achieve your dreams – whether big or small – the universe is listening and will provide to those who are truly grateful.

The feedback on the doco has been truly amazing and humbling and the response to the quality of the evening itself is a true testament to each and every one of our sponsors, to every single person who braved the storm-like weather and came – bringing with them such a supportive and caring vibe. The mood was representative of what it would be like to have a really large family all together, it was beautiful.

(By the time I got a chance to get my camera out it was the end of the night and most had left apart from these troupers – three of which you can see laughing at me for blogging at my own event. Thank you to the hundred or more lovely faces who made it, it meant so much to us and was such a great turn out, rain, thunder and all!)

A huge thank you to Jacqui Brown of Beautiful Events who facilitated everything and helped make this evening such a success. Without her, I’m not sure I would still be alive right now. Love you Jac!!!

And last but absolutely not least – thank you to Mathew Knight of Mathew Knight Media. As I said in my ever so nerve wracking speech before the debut, I could never have done this, nor would this have ever happened without him. It is because of him contacting me early in 2012 via his New York apartment that this project even started. It was meant to be a few 30 second vids released over PFF on youtube and somehow morphed into the 15 minute documentary we created! It is because of Mathew that I am able to appear effortlessly in front of the camera (which maybe despite appearances is NOT something I love doing). It is because of him I was able to get real answers out of our subjects – such a crucial element in the story and by no means something I am naturally good at. And it is because of his experience in film making that this doco is something I am so proud to have shown to my peers and eventually all of you. INSIDE STYLE VOYEUR is a moment in time, filmed primarily at Perth Fashion Festival 2012 with additional interviews, documented for those who really don’t know what it takes to work in fashion and the madness involved in my work behind the scenes of Style Voyeur. This story took 9 months to piece together because of all the footage we got and the changing nature of the project and it is all thanks to Mathew that I have the honour of saving this little but significant piece of Style Voyeur history for the rest of my life. I love him forever and will never forget what he has done for me and my brand!
