Pippa McManus for Style Voyeur @MBAFW Burberry Event, Sydney

Above: ex model and blogger Candice Lake and Dion Lee at the Burberry Eyewear launch.

As I couldn’t make it to Sydney this year, I came up with the idea of collaborating with fashion Illustrator Pippa McManus who was heading over for the shows. As the first ever Guest Blogger for Style Voyeur in history, I arranged for Pippa to attend the Burberry Eyewear event in my honour last Friday 4th May and boy what an amazing job she has done!! Her illustrations are a direct inspiration from the photographs she took for me on the night as well as the rest of the imagery featured in their original form.  The ‘Life In Film’ event held at Burberry in Sydney was part of a world exclusive for the release of the new Burberry Eyewear range entitled FOUR BANDS/ FOUR CITIES/ FOUR NIGHTS. The band Sydney got to experience was ‘Life In Film.’ Read on for Pippa’s take on the event and attendees.

Wow, ever witnessed one of those moments when a woman walks into a room and every guy, girl and gay stops and stares?! She did that, I think she must have been a Scorpio, raw sex appeal. And beautiful, on trend, vintage tassel earrings.

OK. THIS HAS TO BE IN MY TOP MOST BESTEST FASHION MOMENTS EVER! I had a chat and took a pic of Tim Blanks from Style.com!!! This is right up there with the moment Anna Dello Russo touched me (it could have been the other way around, but whatever). I literally cornered him and asked if I could get a pic of him and he said of course and casually put his arm around the trench! Perfect! So I had a little convo with him about the shows and what he thought about MBFWA and pow-wowed about how the food in NZ is so much better than Sydney (I have never been to NZ) ect ect. And then I pretty much fainted, right after I took my list out of my popular pants and ticked that one off.

Burberry Prorsum heels.

What a cutie! Her name is Kani she is from the blog K is for Kani. It was bloggeramma at the party and they all know each other and were hanging out chatting in women’s accessories! This gorgeous girl made her head piece and has an etsy store where she sells them. She was super nice.

Two amazing androgynous nords who were just so beautiful to look at, they were the only guests who asked what I was blogging for, how was I liking Sydney etc. Sweet boys!

Celine bag? Very ‘Sydney Style’ outfit. Chic.

The Voguettes I have been stalking all week! Poor things. Meg Grey (in the middle) is probs my favorite stylist ever. She does the best editorials and I think Australian Vogue is getting so much better purely because of her. (Meg Grey is no longer with Vogue, she is now focusing on freelance work and a new blog, Grey Gardens and the buzz is that she will eventually start her own magazine, here’s hoping!)

Then I ran up to her and said ‘Meg, may I please take a quick pic of your amazing Miu Miu’s?! I have been stalking EBay forever trying to get hold of a pair for ever!’ Then I realize I said the word eBay to Meg Grey and had to tell myself to SHUT UP! Then they all said ‘we love your pants!’ ‘amazing pants’ and so on to which I replied ‘oh, thanks! They are Burberry, I got them from this store’. Dickhead move #2, they work at VOGUE, they know this!!! Ugh, time to cut back on the champagne.

PRO’s: Celebs +++ which is great for a Perth girl cos lets be honest, there ain’t that many at the Perth parties, Super attentive staff. Even the Hong Kong buyer came up and introduced herself, and I had my own personal bathroom escort called Jeff, thanks Jeff! Pretty spesh. FRENCH champagne. Yup.

CON’s: Not so good canapés. Granted they were Brit theamed like fish and chips, mini pies with pea purée and mash in pastry cups. I dunno, I just kind of expected more? Maybe if it was NZ Burberry, haha. Toilets?! Where? When? How?

It was such a great night! I can’t believe I met some of those people and I was able to get really up close to those beautiful beautiful Prorsum clothes. And my biggest eye opener of the whole night? Style Voyeur’s job is really really hard and it is a talent to be able to work that room, a talent I don’t have! Every time I went up to someone to take a pic I would stutter, fumble with the camera, blush like crazy and that doesn’t help relax your subject. Bravo SV, you are truly good at what you do!

Pippa you were so brave!! More to come from Pippa McManus for Style Voyeur @MBAFW, very soon! xxx
