Encore – Central TAFE Fashion & Textile Design Graduate Parade
Friday - 28/11/08
Upon entry to Encore – Central TAFE Fashion & Textile Design Parade, I was delighted to see hordes of event staff clad in printed T-shirts with artwork of recently featured on SV artist/designer Jaime Lee Major’s work.
The atmosphere was buzzing with anticipation – buyers, fashion editors, fellow designers and the style savvy alike were all waiting to discover Central TAFE’s next big thing.
Jaime Lee Major and Kiel Rogers both won the X-Press Fashion Emerging Talent Award 2008, the two were a tie as the award is usually only ever offered to one designer per year. This gives them celebrated coverage in the 40,000 copy circulated weekly, a half page feature on each of them and their designs and will be printed in the 11th December edition. X-Press editors rightly rewarded the palpable, tireless hours Rogers spent creating his bizarre, awe inspiring designs and Major for her obvious talent and individuality. Kiel Rogers also modelled for best friend Major and the two shared the limelight as two of the designers to watch from this years graduating class – Central TAFE’s next big thing(s).

The level of detail that has gone into her works is impressive to say the least!

One of a kind.
Explosive colour, knockout body art, hair and make-up all by Jaime Lee Major.
I am a massive fan of the see-through coat and they are next to impossible to find. I love the confetti and this variation of a classic piece, a perfect example of one a’ la Major stylzzz.
It’s all about August in November.
SV was the first to ever shoot August (see Dilettante and Zekka new collections showing @ 1907 post) after Scott at Zekka discovered him, now he is a full-blown model and in my opinion a budding super.

Kiel Rogers wearing the the raddest blue PVC esque tights and T designed by Jaime Lee Mayor. I have seriously been searching for tights just like these for months and have even entered XXX Adult shops to try and source some. With no luck, I gave up but now my hopes have been revived. Love it!

Designs above and below by Susan Bird. I really liked this collection. For me there is reference to Victor and Rolf’s work and the simple black pumps (above right) are so chic.
